3A Entrepreneurship Story

Starting in about September 2016, my mother and I started our own family business. My mother was inspired by boat canvas and sewing in general and decided that she wanted to establish her own custom canvas business for boat covers and other canvas related products. I have helped her with all the web design and logo construction as well as all the other technical aspects of the business while she handles all the physical sewing and contract negotiations with potential customers. The pictures posted are our company logo and her brick and mortar location where all the products are made.  This was only the start of my entrepreneurship story, my brother and I also have plans to operate a food truck following his high school graduation. My brother has Asperger’s syndrome and this food truck idea has been on his mind for a long time. He always tells my mom how he can’t wait to graduate so he and I could finally start this second entrepreneurial venture.

The reason I chose to take this course was to not only learn some of the basics of entrepreneurship but to also see if I can apply the skills I will learn in this class to my future entrepreneurship ventures to come in the next few years. I’m hopeful that this class will help me form the foundation for not only my future but my brother’s future as well.

  1. I enjoyed getting to read a little bit about your past entrepreneurial experiences and some insight to what the future might hold for you and your brother. You've already had a chance to get your feet wet with the idea of entrepreneurship, and hopefully this course will help build upon what you already know. I found this blog post to be motivating, and I wish you and your brother good luck on the food truck. Nice post!
