14A Halfway Reflection

It’s crazy to believe that we are already halfway through the semester. It feels like yesterday that I was pulling teeth trying to come up with a list of 20 things that bug me. From the beginning of this course, I knew that creativity and perseverance were going to be the two main traits that I was going to rely on while I completed the assignments. As the course progressed I noticed that I have also begun to develop a third trait that I wasn’t expecting to develop in this course. That trait was the ability to look critically at things and decipher the best course of action to attack any given situation. Some of the assignments aren’t very straightforward and this can be difficult for some people that don’t see the big picture and can’t find a solution to this problem. I think more than anything this course has made me a better critical thinker which in turn will benefit me in the entrepreneurial world. Oh, there were definitely moments that I struggled with especially early on. That first assignment listing the 20 bugs was by far the most eye-opening experience I’ve had to deal with in this class so far. I spent a solid 5 days slowly but surely coming up with this list. It took so much out of me that I was basically out of commission for a few hours after I finally finished the assignment. The magnitude of the assignment coupled with the intense amount of thought that went into it. However, in the end, I am a better person and a better entrepreneur because of it.

Three Tips I would give a student who chooses to take this class next semester

1.     Never give up. I know this sounds cliché but it’s some of the best advice I could give for this course. This course will challenge you in ways you won’t expect but stick with it and you will be better off for it.

2.     Take a minute to think if you get stuck. Good ideas aren’t always the first idea that pops into your head, take some time to truly conceptualize the ideas you have for your opportunities and even ask your friends or roommates what their opinions are of your choices. However, don’t annoy the same person with all your questions because sooner or later they won’t deal with your problems anymore.

3.     This course is a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time to truly understand the concepts. Just because you think your all that doesn’t mean you are going to grasp this as quickly as you think. This also works in reverse as well. If you're frustrated with your progress, in the beginning, you still have time to work your way back into it. The course isn’t over after 3 weeks. You got a long way to develop your skills and become the entrepreneur you're meant to be.
