20A Growing Your Social Capital

1.) Daniel Shemtob is the owner an operator of one of the most popular food trucks in the country. His truck named The Lime Truck has been documented numerous time on the Food network and other food-related channels on a national scale. His expertise in the business of running a very successful food truck is definitely something to admire. His style of cuisine is also something I would like to emulate because they try to stick to fresh, organic, and classic foods that everyone can enjoy. The experience that he has with both the business side and the culinary side of this business would definitely help me continue to pursue this goal to open this truck. His expertise is the most value to my own social capital.

2.) Sen Khiev is the Owner and operator of Gainesville’s own Cilantro Taco food truck. His expertise of the Gainesville food scene and market could be very beneficial to my me as an up and coming food truck in the area. I emailed him asking for advice when it comes to starting up a food truck business especially when you plan to do this as a family business. He replied with a lot of solid advice and even said he would be open to teaming up to help each other out when we are open and need events to go to. This person is a veteran in this industry and has made a very comfortable niche for himself and his family. I look at him as a role model for what I could accomplish in the future.

3.) Charlie Lybrand is the director of the Union street farmers market here in Gainesville Florida. His local farmers market is constantly voted one of the best in the county. His local organic produce and meats are exactly the type of products I want to feature at our truck. Not just because all the products are local but you know the quality of the produce is a fresh as it can get. Also being able to support other local businesses in the community would be another benefit to working with Charlie. With his expertise on produce and food, I would say Charlie would fit under the supplier domain.

I think this experience of networking with both local and national businesses will definitely help me with this business opportunity or in life in general. The ability to successfully network yourself or your business is a critical aspect that can make or break your career.
