24A Venture Concept #1
The opportunity that I am looking to fix is to provide the people of Gainesville with an affordable food option at sporting events and other outdoor venues. The vendors at these events have gotten way out of control when it comes to prices and quality of the food they are serving their customers. These fans/attendees deserve to have food of good quality for a price that doesn’t burn a hole in their wallets. I’ve personally gone to sporting events and been forced to pay $8 for nachos. Now to the average consumer, this is atrocious, I could go to any grocery store in the area and less than half of that amount of money to get the same or more food for that price. The ability to have this option available to these potential customers is one reason why they would be willing to come to our truck rather than the other food vendors that they typically go to during sporting events and other outdoor venues. This is a huge need and a huge opportunity because thousands of people attend these outdoor events every day and If even a small fraction of them are not able to pay the high prices for food they will see my option as one that could both satisfy their need for food and also help their financial situation as well.
The innovation is developed for this business is sourcing our ingredients locally allowing our customers to get a fresh local product that not only is a better-quality product but one that is affordable compared to the competition. The goal of the truck is to serve an average meal to a customer for $6 to $8. This along with the good perceived value for each of these items will give them a proper experience that we all hope to have when we go to outdoor venues and sporting events. I see families with kids and college students easily gravitating to this truck. The food lends itself to this demographic of people. Also with these two groups of people being big on sharing food or splitting food between a group of people. This is just another way for them to get to experience these food options without breaking the bank of the entire group.
The competition that I have to overcome has been a mainstay in this industry for a very long time. A lot of the current demographic have already developed a taste for these products that our competitors offer. They offer something that I couldn’t offer, at least early on. The nostalgia of getting a hot dog at a baseball game or popcorn, cracker jacks, peanuts, etc. Is something that I will have a constant battle within the early stages of the business. However, with this new wave of foodies and millennials that are constantly looking for new and exciting options are these venues. Having something that’s both high quality and unique could distinguish me from the rest of the crowd. I think this gives me the ability to market my truck to this unique audience and be able to thrive in the early stages of my business. As the concept becomes more popular amongst the locals and other adventurous attendees the more my business will continue to grow in the community.
HI Cameron,
ReplyDeleteI think your idea is so great! People do not deserve to be taken advantage of through food prices just because they are attending sporting events. I think that the college level sporting events is the perfect place to start this endeavor.
