Existing Market
After conducting the three interviews with the three customers in my current market they all seem to have the same thoughts in mind for what they believe I should do next. Since I don’t have a food truck yet they all suggested methods for me to obtain one as well as all the permits and other documentation that are needed to run a food truck in the city of Gainesville. One interesting point one of them also brought up was the need for me to do some market research for food prices. I’ve thought about this before but not until after I’ve purchased and designed the truck. However, after hearing his explanation I feel that this has to be one of the forefront ideas I need to research first.
I think for me after hearing all the feedback and opinions about the future of my business. I think the best thing for me to do is to look into options for purchasing or renting a food truck as well as researching the appropriate permits and legal documents involved with running a food truck. When these initial steps have been taken I can start looking into produce and meat vendors that can provide me with the best quality products for a price that can allow my business to thrive. Then I’ll start developing recipes and testing them with the general public before we go out and open the truck because If the customer doesn’t like the food we are offering it doesn’t make financial sense for us to continue with the opening of the truck. Hopefully, after all these steps are completed we can know for sure whether this business can become more than an idea.
New Market
If I chose to take this business to a completely new market I would probably end up taking it back to my hometown in Fort Myers Florida. This city is a huge metropolitan area in Southwest Florida. There are a lot of local businesses and a lot of people that are looking for good food at an affordable price. With all this stuff going on there might be a lot of opportunities that I could not get here in Gainesville. The size of the city and multiple attractions to this area give me more than one avenue for profits. The beaches and downtown areas are some of the busiest areas around the city. These are areas that I chose not to target here in Gainesville simply because the sports and music festival environment here in Gainesville is more profitable than the downtown life.
I went on to interview two people from this new market about the possibility of having a food truck like mine in the area and they were both incredibly positive about the idea of something like this coming to town. They both thought the idea to target the beach crowd was one that could be very profitable for my business. One aspect that they also brought up was the impact that the local high schools could provide during sports seasons. The venues are always packed on Friday night and my particular cuisine is one that lends itself well to this demographic of people, especially in this area.
Hi Cameron,
ReplyDeleteI agree that getting the permits and licensing for food trucks will be tough, but I think it will pay off in the end. Expanding your business to your hometown would also be a great idea. The connections that you already have there can help your business boom!
